Rock Band - Harmonix (PS2, PS3,
Xbox360)
Create your own band: drummer, guitarist, bassist, and lead singer.
The game comes with a guitar, microphone, and drum kit. (The bass
requires you to purchase a second guitar unit.)
Will keep your party hot even if the salsa's not! This takes 'air guitar and drums' to a whole new level . . . "Be The
Rock Star!"
-
Dance Dance Revolution (various platforms and versions)
Hugely
popular, extremely energetic and a really great way to fight the
couch potato syndrome! If you get hooked on this game . . .
you will lose some weight, and very likely emerge as a better
dancer.
Dance Dance Revolution is a hit with all ages it seems, from grade
school, high school and even into college dorms.
We wouldn't be surprised to see it in retirement center too, as it
is simply great fun and a great way to exercise.
Dance Dance Revolution is always a hit at parties, no matter the age
group.
-
Scene It? - Microsoft (Xbox
360)

There's a film geek in all of us (or at least many of us) and this
great movie trivia game will test all who step into its light!
Lots of extremely entertaining and sometimes outrageous challenges.
Accommodates up to four players each with their own "buzz in" button
pad. Fast, funny, and freekin' fun!
So see, knowing all of Darth Vader's lines in all of the Star Wars
movies by heart, will prove valuable after all!
-
Smarty Pants - Electronic Arts (Wii)
A
"Way Fun" group trivia game with some very cool twists. One
really cool feature is that the game delivers up 'age suitable
questions' based on a player's age and their likely familiarity with
the subject . . . so for example, your digital-era nine year old
isn't asked things like "what does clockwise mean?" (And you're not
asked a question only a fifth grader could answer.) This of course, allows players of varying ages or knowledge levels
(you can always fib about your age) to play together and actually
have a chance.
Features 20,000 questions in eight interesting categories.
There's a group play mode that allows everyone to answer questions
together, and a competitive mode where you play against others.
-
Viva
Piņata - Microsoft (Xbox 360)
While
targeted at the wee ones, this neat little game, based on the Viva
Piņata franchise, will prevent meltdowns at any party. It's
also been said that it keeps rambunctious adults wildly entertained
as well.
Race your selected character against other players. Zoom through a
course filled with obstacles, dodging and jumping and, here's the
best part . . . you can boost your speed and foil your opponents
progress with interesting things like spilled 'honey pots' and
missiles. Yes, I said missiles . . . and there is a
water-borne game segment where you power you boat with 'burps.'
Yes, I said, 'burps' . . . but it's all in great fun, and as
mentioned, wee ones, teens and adults will 'dig' this game!
