Initially conceived as a way to "get the word out" to other motorists on
various local issues in the 1930's, the concept of the bumper
sticker was quickly picked up by hucksters, politicians, clergy, and the
public, and has been in prolific use since.
Bumper stickers have emerged as a cultural
phenomenon in the U.S. and have earned a permanent place in the realm of
Automotive Americana. Bumper stickers can be political, sports
oriented, religious, commercial, satirical, philosophical, humorous or
just plain rude!
Bumper stickers are also popular all over the world. They can
represent a trophy for accomplishments like "I Climbed Mt. Everest" or
places visited, like "I've Been to Stonehenge." In many countries,
bumper stickers have nearly become an obsession, with devotee's nearly
covering their entire car. An Israeli musician composer has
created an extremely popular song 'The Sticker song" with lyrics
comprised entirely of bumper sticker slogans.
We love a good bumper sticker, and we suspect you do as well, so please
